Program Overview
SAM Academy’s Percussion Program offers structured instruction in drums and percussion for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Lessons emphasize technique, rhythm literacy, coordination, and performance readiness in a supportive and engaging environment.
Hours: M-F | 2:00 PM — 7:00 PM (Class times based on instructor availability).
Lessons Offered: Drums and Percussion.
Lesson Length: 30 Minutes.
Cost: $35 per lesson.
Age Range: Preschool & up — tailored lessons are available for young children.
Beginning Percussion
- Proper stick grip and posture
- Basic rhythm reading and counting
- Snare drum fundamentals
- Introduction to drum set
- Basic rudiments
- Tempo control and coordination
- Intro to auxiliary percussion
Intermediate Percussion
- Expanded rudiments and sticking
- Drum set grooves and fills
- Intermediate rhythm reading
- Hand and foot coordination
- Dynamics and articulation
- Ensemble playing
- Style studies (rock, Latin, folklórico)
Advanced Percussion
- Advanced rudiments and techniques
- Complex rhythms and time signatures
- Drum set improvisation and solos
- Polyrhythms and advanced coordination
- Performance preparation
- Ensemble leadership
- Audition and competition prep
