Why We’re Fundraising: Empowering Our Youth Through Tradition
At SAM Academy, we believe in preserving cultural heritage through music, art, and community. Our mariachi ensemble, Los Caballitos de SAM Academy, represents this mission wholeheartedly. Each student learns not only the art of mariachi performance but also the discipline, teamwork, and pride that come with it.
However, to truly honor the tradition of mariachi, professional attire—known as “trajes de charro”—is essential. These suits are beautifully detailed, custom-tailored garments that reflect the prestige and cultural significance of mariachi music. Unfortunately, trajes de charro are expensive, as each one must be made to fit the individual performer perfectly.
We’re working hard to raise $10,000 to outfit our entire ensemble with these professional uniforms. This investment will not only enhance their stage presence but also instill confidence, pride, and professionalism in every student performer.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our young musicians to perform on a big stage, representing our local community and their cultural heritage.
